How old were you at your session?56 & 1/2

What made you decide to book a session?
Black Friday sale! Who doesn’t love a bargain?

renee blog 1.jpg

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Nothing. I really hadn’t thought about it. I literally saw the sale and jumped.

What were you most nervous about for your session?
Everything! What would I wear. How would I look. Would anything fit. Am I too old. You name it and I was nervous about it.

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
Depended on the day. Most days ok. I can clean up pretty good if needed.

Describe your experience.
OMG! It really was amazing. Emily had a wonderful closet for me to play dress up with. She helped when I had questions. Her makeup skills....over the top!! She listened to what I liked and went for it!
Jes has MAD skills as a photographer but even more as a human person. She made me feel comfortable and beautiful in my skin.

renee blog 4.jpg

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
WONDERWOMAN!

renee blog 2.jpg

Were you nervous before your viewing session?YES! Duh

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
Really good. I usually hate photos of myself, but these! Wow! Yup I look good.

What were your favorite products? They are all great, but I’m kind of in love with the accordion books. It’s kind of like carrying a secret in your pocket!

renee blog 10.jpg

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
DO IT! Don’t wait to be thinner, smaller, more confident, less nervous. Those days may not come. Do this for YOU! Share with someone you love (if you want) but do it. You will not be sorry.

How was working with Jes and Emily?
On a scale of 1-10......15+
These women are hope for the future and all around good human people.

renee blog 13.jpg

Will you be doing another session?Never say never.....

Anything else you want to add?
Thanks Jes and Emily. It was ‘da bomb’!

"Each person has different life experience and sometimes a girl just needs to love her body!" | Duluth Boudoir interview with Alli

alli blog 2.jpg

How old were you at your session?24

What made you decide to book a session?
I originally wanted to do this session for a wedding gift, but shorty after the session started I knew that this was more for me than him. I was very nervous at first just like any normal human.

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
I think that I was nervous about how other people would view me. I have always been judged on everything.... you know dance. I felt like I would love them and it would be a waste, and boy was I wrong!!

alli blog 4.jpg

What were you most nervous about for your session?
I think the part about not knowing what I was going to wear and how to pose. Thank lord for you guys with that department!

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
I was very nervous, I'm not normally a "sexy" person. I have always dress a little on the modest side of things.

alli blog 8.jpg

Describe your experience.
OMG (oh my gato) - oh my cat in Spanish! I was amazed on how everything came together. From hair and make up to the outfits I was blown away on the whole experience. I have never felt better about myself. I didn't know it at the time but I 100% needed that. All I can say is thank you for everything. It's not about the make up or amazing outfits but about your experience and way mine nothing short of perfection. I felt like I got my confidence back. Each person has different life experience and sometimes a girl just needs to love her body! I can't get over this experience and hope to do it again,

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
Like a goddess!

alli blog 7.jpg

Were you nervous before your viewing session? No just excited!

alli blog 9.jpg

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
I'm shocked I didn't think it was possible to not smile in photos. I've never liked my profile of my face but that changed very quickly! I want to show everyone who walks by me. I feel proud, like I finished a marathon...yeah right!

What were your favorite products? All, I really love the big 30 print book!

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
That to do something daring. Go for it, what do you have to lose? Nothing that's right because you're going to have the best time of your life!

alli blog 11.jpg

How was working with Jes and Emily?
I love you both, you know how to make this experience wonderful!

Will you be doing another session?Of course

alli blog 13.jpg

Anything else you want to add?
I love you both and can't wait to some back! This waS the absolute best day ever!

"Sexy, amazing, wonderful. I was so anxious to see all of my photos!" | Duluth Boudoir Interview with Maggie

Maggie 1.jpg

How old were you at your session?25

Maggie 2.jpg

What made you decide to book a session?
I have always loved Jes’ photography and have wanted to do a session since she started doing boudoir. I finally decided to do a session during the Black Friday sale, it was a little bit of a impulse decision, but I was so excited and I’m so happy that I did it!

Maggie 3.jpg

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Knowing that I would want to purchase every single photo and having to save up the money to do so.

What were you most nervous about for your session?
Not finding an outfit that I like and oversleeping. I had dreams that I overslept and missed my session... and I don’t know why I was worried about not finding an outfit, their closet is amazing and I found enough things that I loved to to multiple sessions.

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
Pretty good, but nervous about looking “sexy” in front of the camera.

Describe your experience.
Emily and Jes are AMAZING and really have the entire experience perfected to make you feel like you are so special and beautiful. Emily had the best outfits picked out for me to try on, it was so fun working with her and Jes to decide which ones I was actually going to wear. Emily is a genius with hair and makeup. And Jes makes you so comfortable being half (well, probably more than half) naked in front of the camera.

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
Sexy, amazing, wonderful. I was so anxious to see all of my photos!

Were you nervous before your viewing session?Mostly just excited!

Maggie 9.jpg

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
Freaking amazing. I got the iPhone app with all of the photos and seriously just went through and looked at all of them over and over for days.

What were your favorite products? The heirloom box and the platinum album

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
To just do it! Jes and Emily are amazing and will give you the photo shoot of your dreams!

How was working with Jes and Emily?
So great! I hope to get the chance to do it again!

Will you be doing another session?Absolutely!

Anything else you want to add?
Your body is a freaking temple, love it and show it off!

"They see positive things about you that you don't recognize anymore and I left there feeling like I might have a chance on America's Next Top Model. " | Duluth Boudoir Interview with Sara

How old were you at your session?36

What made you decide to book a session?
I had wanted to do boudoir like six years ago but circumstances came up and I couldn't do it. Fast forward to now and I booked on Black Friday because I'm very much in a "YOLO" phase except for me I actually lived twice. I died giving birth to my fourth baby, I have serious health issues from that and I'm not the same in any way that I was. I am trying to get my groove back and I thought this would be a fun thing to do to help. Then they had their Black Friday sale so it felt like serendipity and I booked it on a whim thinking I had all the time in the world to lose some weight in time for my session. Spoiler: I actually gained 14 pounds so I went into my session at the largest size I have ever been, including all four of my pregnancies.

Sara s blog 3.jpg

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Obviously my size. Back in the day I was curvy in all the right places and I had worked hard at losing weight. Then life happens and I had two more babies and now my health issues makes it almost impossible to lose weight so I have to embrace where I'm at because this is what it's going to be. I can't dwell in low self esteem land and it's really HARD. It's really hard to feel sexy when you feel like garbage and think you look battle worn.

What were you most nervous about for your session?
I actually wasn't nervous at all! I was more anxious and jittery than anything because you can read 78 of these questionnaires and you really have no idea what you're stepping into or what the experience is going to be like.

Sara s blog 2.jpg

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
Pretty crappy. I have a five inch vertical scar on my stomach, I look five months pregnant and get asked when I'm due on the regular, I've got the thunder thighs and a booty to match. I feel disproportionate. I feel pretty great about the shoulders and up but everything below is not where I want to be in any sense. It hurts to move so I definitely don't feel sexy in any capacity.

Describe your experience.
It was pretty surreal, to be honest and I wrote it down the day of so I would remember because I have short term memory loss (hence, the Dory tattoo on my wrist). But it started with Emily picking out a bunch of things that might fit based on my questionnaire so I tried probably about 20 items on. I picked out what fit and what I felt comfortable in and Jes narrowed it down to about four looks for me. Then Emily did my hair and makeup, and I'll be honest, I cannot do my own makeup so that alone was a treat. It also highlighted that I'm fairly certain I am using the wrong brushes for everything and did you know primer is a thing? I did not know this and now I'm excited to buy primer. That's how much of a loser I am, ladies. After hair and makeup, you get into your first outfit and Jes basically walks you through everything. The time flies by and I really wanted to keep going but real life is waiting for us.

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
I felt amazing. They see positive things about you that you don't recognize anymore and I left there feeling like I might have a chance on America's Next Top Model. I felt prettier the rest of the day even though I only went out to dinner with a friend and came home to scrub toilets, do laundry, clean up cat vomit, and listened to toddlers scream about bedtime. I looked fabulous doing it!

Were you nervous before your viewing session? Not really! I was more excited than anything.

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
It was kind of funny because I felt prettier the day of and doing it and I didn't really see that same person in the photos, if that makes sense? I didn't recognize that girl and I wondered if that was what my husband sees on the regular, because I certainly don't feel that way at all. The great thing about short term memory loss is everything is a surprise so I didn't really remember what I wore or any of the poses so I was surprised by a lot of it.

What were your favorite products? The albums! I went in thinking I'd get the heirloom box but I left with much more.

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
Just do it. Nobody ever is going to feel like they have no problem areas and let's face it- we can say we're going to lose the weight but summer is coming and so are mini donuts. Ha! I honestly challenge the women with the worst self esteem to do it ahead of the girls who feel pretty alright with themselves because they can benefit from this the most. I really look at myself completely differently.

How was working with Jes and Emily?
Jes and Emily are the dynamic duo who make everything fun. Even when I joke about chronic dry eye. Ha!

Sara s blog 14.jpg

Will you be doing another session?Maybe. I don't know if I need more photos but the experience was amazing.

Anything else you want to add?
I'd like to add that it's such a special job these women are doing for us and I know women must come in every day totally scared of what they are in for and they make everyone feel like a super model. To do that and be uplifting on the Facebook groups, and help out in the community, they are really changing the world one woman at a time. It's a pretty amazing thing when you look at the enormity of it and I'm happy to be a small sliver of that.

"I THANK Jes and Emily... not for putting makeup on me or letting me know what I was falling out of top but for capturing a part of me that I don't see that often"| Duluth Boudoir Interview with Laura

laura blog 8.jpg

How old were you at your session?31

laura blog 4.jpg

What made you decide to book a session?
I booked during the Black Friday Sale. Over the past year or so I have seen so many amazing photos of woman through the Facebook group that it hipnotized me and I just booked!

laura blog 7.jpg

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Truthfully vanity was holding me back. Its hard to get yourself out of that negative mindset over our bodies. Over the past few years my body has gone through drastic changes inside and out. I have undergone 28 surgeries over the past two years I my abdominal/pelvis area and am fitted with an Ostomy Bag (Judy) for life. During this time I have ranged from 89lbs to 200lbs and back down to a comfortable weight. So my view of my body wasn't always positive or grateful and I was very self conscious about my scars and Judy!

laura blog 1.jpg

What were you most nervous about for your session?
I work out but I wouldn't call myself athletic by any means and I am also always in a significant amount of chronic pain. So I was nervous about not being able to do a pose and look graceful.

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
Funny thing is, I'm not a shy person but sometimes life throws you experiences and words that leave a sting and change how/what you allow people to see you. I felt like the girl who would *sometimes* be comfortable being herself but held back more often then not.

laura blog 2.jpg

Describe your experience.
Like others I wanted to puke as soon as I woke up that morning but with kind words from friends I got in my car with no makeup and drove over the bridge. As soon as I walked in I knew I would be okay. Beautiful studio (even under construction) with two warm and inviting woman who had already pulled items for me to try on. After I chose 4 outfits from the huge closet, I sat for makeup and hair with my slippers and a blanket on listening to girl power music. It was a treat! Emily did a great job with my makeup and made sure I liked everything before I got dressed. The actual shoot felt like it went by fast... Jes directed me on every pose and adjusted me when needed. I was able to take breaks too. I ended up not loving my last outfit when I came to it, so they both helped me find something new that I loved! This experience was comfortable, exciting, shocking, and pampering! I LOVED IT!

laura blog 6.jpg

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
I got back into my car and was pumped. I turned up my music and went and got a taco. I felt accomplished! I did something I wasn't sure I could do and had the hair and makeup to prove it! I felt like no matter what people see of me they are going to choose what they want to think anyways so why not put out who I want to today; sexy, purple hair, 31yo, with a lot of baggage that doesn't care what negative comments you have.

Were you nervous before your viewing session?Yes I was nervous! Jes showed me maybe three shots she taken while shooting but I had no idea what they would look like on the viewing screen.

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
The excitement of my shoot day had dwindled a little... until I saw my photos. Then I was back on fire! It was me but it also wasn't who I see everyday! I have never seen myself like that yet, I knew Jes had captured Laura. I was so excited. I went straight home after my viewing session, opened my viewing email and looked at every image for a good 5 min. Like I said, I'm not a shy person but I do feel more confident in who I am currently.

laura blog 10.jpg

What were your favorite products?Luxe album was one of my favorite! I was far too concerned about actually choosing a limited number of photos soooo I went with the Hairloom Box!

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
Just do it! It's an experience for yourself that you will never forget. There wasn't one picture that I wasn't captivated by in some way! It's not about sex, its about finding that part of you that isn't scared of being vulnerable and coming out the other side feeling proud!

How was working with Jes and Emily?
I THANK Jes and Emily... not for putting makeup on me or letting me know what I was falling out of top but for capturing a part of me that I don't see that often. For me building up and letting ME overflow out of a picture that I will always have. They were positive, welcoming, supportive but also real and they weren't just feeding me lines. Jes and Emily really wanted to give me a great experience and produce an end product that I would be proud of.

Will you be doing another session?Oh yes! I plan to do one early 2019

Anything else you want to add?
So grateful to myself that I did this!

"HOLY SCHMOLY! Like, I mean, I know I look good, but damnnnnnnn." Duluth Boudoir Interview with Brittany

How old were you at your session?28

Brittany blog 1.jpg

What made you decide to book a session?
I wanted to hang out with my favorite girls. Also, I like feeling gorgeous so this was really something fun. And it was something new. I'm a pretty reserved person, so getting half naked in a public place was quite an experience.

Brittany blog 2.jpg

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Nothing. Time played a factor in our scheduling.

Brittany blog 4.jpg

What were you most nervous about for your session?
Not being covered. I'm not normally an overly sexual person (in public) -- plus being a business owner, I was a little nervous about sharing photos. But ultimately, it is for me (and my hubs) so, I don't really care what other people think. I've been trying to do more of that lately - not caring about public opinion.

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
Good, confident. (I caught myself on a good day)
Its hard not to feel real and content with yourself when you're around Jes & Emily - they make you feel so good about yourself. They're great people to be around.

Describe your experience.
It was fun (everytime) LOL. So, because it was an outdoor session + Midwest weather, we had a couple reschedules... But third time was a charm! I love working with Jes and she created such magic with the location. I felt so comfortable with her, even if I was half naked in the middle of the woods!

Brittany blog 7.jpg

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
Schmexxxxyyyyy. Normal, but even better. I loved the hair/makeup - that gave me some attitude. And just riding on that adrenaline high made me feel great.

Were you nervous before your viewing session? No, Excited!

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
HOLY SCHMOLY! Like, I mean, I know I look good, but damnnnnnnn. My husband is so lucky. ;)

What were your favorite products?I love the album. And all of them, but I got the album because it was something I can put on my shelf next to my wedding album and look at whenever.

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
Just go for it. These babes make you feel so comfortable and so good. But you also have to be mentally ready to let yourself go for it, to be free and uninhibited. You're a babe, show us what you got!

How was working with Jes and Emily?
Meh.

JUST KIDDING. I adore these two. I wish I lived closer so I can just follow them around everywhere and make them be my BFFs. :) :) :)

Will you be doing another session?TOTALLYYYYYYYY

Anything else you want to add?
Jes + Emily, thank you for all the goodness and being such supportive and inspirational friends of females.

Future Boudoir Babes -- You're all rockstars and so so so hot. Need a pick me up? Get your picture taken! They will show you how amazing you truly are -- yes, on the outside, but on the inside too! *cheesy, I know, but true*

"Being able to empower more and more woman is an inspiration and I feel blessed to be part of that. " | Duluth Boudoir Interview with Krystle

krystle blog 2.jpg

How old were you at your session?31

krystle blog 1.jpg

What made you decide to book a session?
I wanted to do something fun and spontaneous for mine and my husbands 10 year anniversary and give the finished products to him as a gift.

krystle blog 3.jpg

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
To be honest I felt like I wasn't going to like the pictures of myself due to being a bigger girl and other flaws I have. But after being in the VIP group on Facebook and the way everyone treated each other by talking so positive towards each other and motivating ladies I felt inspired to just do it. The group helped me feel better about myself no matter what flaws I felt I have.

Of course the price was also weighing on my mind but being that they offered a nice payment plan I figured to just go for it.

krystle blog 5.jpg

What were you most nervous about for your session?
I was mostly really nervous about what I was going to wear and have done for makeup. I just didn't know what would make me feel more beautiful and of course sexy. I had so many outfits I kept debating about bringing but had also heard how large the studio's closet was so wasn't sure if I should bring mine or not.

krystle blog 4.jpg

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
I felt very moved and motivated as I had told some friends I was having a session and they were excited for me. They helped make me feel more confident which helped relieve any nervousness I had going into it. I knew how much I wanted to have this session done to surprise my husband and of course that he loves me for no matter what I look like. I booked it for Valentine's Day as I knew I had more of an excuse to have hair and makeup done so I could wear it out for mine and my husbands evening.

krystle blog 6.jpg

Describe your experience.
It was sooo much FUN and I felt SOOOO SEXY!! Going into it feeling motivated helped me a lot. Emily had me start out in the closet to pick 4 outfits to wear. I did bring a few of my own as well and ended up going with 1 of mine and 3 of theirs. It really didn't take me long to decide. I then went into hair and makeup with Emily and she did such beautiful work. The poses were a bit work but I felt I handled them well. I didn't realize going into the session that they were going to be exact certain poses but I understood I was working with a professional and Jes knows her stuff! During the session Jes showed me some of my pictures on her camera and I felt great and it just made me want to continue taking more and more. Emily and Jes made me laugh throughout my session and working with them was so much fun. I will definitely be back again!

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
I felt sexy and like nothing could bring me down that day. I had my hair and makeup all done and couldn't wait to celebrate Valentine's Day with my husband that night. Of course I really wanted to see my photos that day but knew I had to wait.

Were you nervous before your viewing session?Kind of!

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
I felt so beautiful. I LOVED all of my photos and didn't know what I was going to pick out for photos. I also knew that I would be back for another session within the next year but definitely going to go for an outdoor session!

What were your favorite products?Sumatra collection!

krystle blog 10.jpg

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
Just go for it. Don't put yourself down thinking you aren't beautiful or that any flaw you think you have is going to ruin your photos. Jes and Emily are amazing ladies and they know what they are doing from start to finish. Of course people may let the cost shy them away but seriously the price doesn't matter it's the confidence in yourself that makes the whole process worth it all.

How was working with Jes and Emily?
It was soooo much fun! They have the best personalities for what they do and I believe that it's what has made them so successful. I would never go to a different studio for boudoir photos period!! I plan on making it a habit to continue the experience by booking more sessions down the road with them.

krystle blog 12.jpg

Will you be doing another session?YES!! No questions asked!

Anything else you want to add?
I have never felt so inspired by anyone until being in Jes and Emily's group on Facebook and of course having a boudoir shoot with them. Being able to empower more and more woman is an inspiration and I feel blessed to be part of that. From me thinking that my stretch marks from having three kids would make me feel more uncomfortable, the spider veins on my legs and my bigger belly didn't matter to me anymore from being in this group and I say that being very serious. None of those things mattered to me as I know I'm beautiful and we are all beautiful and need to not think otherwise about ourselves. Having a boudoir session done by Jes and Emily was such an amazing experience and I hope many others decide to work with them!
