How old were you at your session?27
What made you decide to book a session?
Emily has been one of my best friends since childhood. When I found out that she was going to be doing makeup and hair for boudoir photography I was so excited, and knew that I would eventually need to book a session. I always figured I would wait until I was getting married, as a gift to my future husband. However, after being a part of the amazing online community of women, reading their stories, and seeing their pictures... I decided to do it for me instead. Not to say that my boyfriend doesn't also enjoy them... he does. ;)
What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Mostly my self-image, and my busy schedule.
What were you most nervous about for your session?
I was afraid that my perceived flaws that I constantly focus on would be magnified.
How did you feel about yourself before your session?
When I finally decided to pull the trigger and book a session, I was feeling pretty good about myself. However, this is a recent development for me. I went through a pretty traumatic experience in the somewhat recent past, and had to go on anti-depressants as a result. My body changed a lot because of the medication and I no longer felt like myself. When I finally got off of the medication, and did some self-reflection, I learned to love my new body. This shoot was kind of a celebration of that realization for me.
Describe your experience.
Right away I felt completely comfortable with Jes... I think it probably helps that I am so obsessed with the Facebook group, so I watch the lives almost everyday. I was super excited about all of the pieces they picked for me, and knew they would have great ideas any time I asked for advice. It was so fun to catch up with Emily as she did my hair and makeup, and I was shocked when I saw the final result in the mirror. The shoot was an absolute blast. Beyond feeling amazingly beautiful throughout the entire thing, we just had a ton of fun together.
How did you feel about yourself after your session?
I felt like a bad-ass, feminist, super-chick who could take on the entire world.
Were you nervous before your viewing session?Nope, I had already watched my entire live session so I knew the pictures would be amazing.
How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
I felt like I had been wasting so much time picking out and focusing on my flaws for all of these years, when I could have been spending time focusing on all of my... assets. ;)
What were your favorite products? The Luxe Album! I love that you can have a picture of yourself on the front, and the pages are amazing!
What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
To stop wasting time coming up with reasons why you're not enough, and start embracing what makes you an individual.
How was working with Jes and Emily?
Like a dream come true!
Will you be doing another session?Duh.
Anything else you want to add?
I just want to say thanks to Jes and Emily, and the entire community of women in this group. I love that we are all uplifting each other and the community together. If the whole world could be more like you guys, it would be a pretty amazing place to live.
