It's that time of year again...

Mad Chicken Studio | Duluth Boudoir Photographer, Jes Hayes photography session

This time of year, you may find yourself asking "where did all of these boudoir photographers come from?!"

The thing with many photographers, is that we genuinely love being behind the camera so much, that we will photograph just about everything.  This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it does do a great disservice to our clients.

You may be privy to the fact that Valentine's Day is right around the corner.  This is when photographers say "oh crap, time to run a boudoir special!"  But then what are they thinking about the rest of the year.... anything but boudoir.

So why is that important?

Up until a year and a half ago, I was the photographer that I explained above.  By the time my Valentine's Day sessions rolled around, it had been a year since I had done the posing and trying to come up with a good plan for an entire boudoir session, and be 100% confident is pretty much near impossible.  That is a really scary thing when there is a half naked girl standing in front of me not feeling 100% confident, herself.

I see it as my job to be more than 100% confident in myself, because I need to give some of that to my clients.  Yes, I know, math... but it makes sense, right?

There is so much that goes into our boudoir sessions that our clients will never see.  When we aren't shooting or editing, we are researching, purchasing furniture and lingerie, workshops, designing, and the list goes on and on.  I mentioned workshops... seriously, there is so much education that we do each year, it's ridiculous.  Often times, I come home from the studio and am still doing research, and bouncing ideas off of Emily so that we can do the best job we can for the ladies that come to us.

We photograph approximately 100 girls every year, and we provide a killer experience.  We don't get stale and we can pose the crap out of every body type without having to touch the liquefy tool in Photoshop {this is the one that can make people thinner... but we refuse to use it}. Short, tall, young, old, curvy, and stick straight... we've been through it all, and we obsess over it.  We could not do the job we want, by only shooting boudoir once a year
