What made you decide to book a session?
I'd been thinking about getting boudoir pictures done as a gift for my husband for a few years. Once I was added to the group (Thank you, Kim!!), I quickly saw how much everyone loved their pictures and how highly recommended Jes and Emily were. I jumped in head first, with no hesitation!

What was originally holding you back from booking a session?
Baby number three came along, and it felt like life took a while to get into the new normal. Then every boudoir photographer I came across seemed to look either too amateur, too cheesy, too raunchy, or exploitative. I was looking for someone who would understand that yes I'm sexy and a woman, but I am also a wife and a mom. Mad Chicken checked all my boxes and I waited for the Black Friday deals to go live.

What were you most nervous about for your session?
I think I read every blog post, every post in the group, and the Mad Chicken website seven times each the night before. I was so nervous I was going to do something wrong, miss some detail, or forget to do something! I so badly wanted this to go well and get some pretty pictures at the end.
I was nervous that Jes wouldn't be able to get any good photographs. I was nervous I wouldn't be able to pull of a sexy look. Also, I was very afraid I wouldn't be able to stop giggling and smiling because of how awkward I was sure it was going to be!

How did you feel about yourself before your session?
I'm pretty comfortable with my body. I like working out, but I also love tacos and wine. I felt I knew how to showcase my body pretty well with clothing on, but was slightly nervous about how my body would look without clothing on!

Describe your experience.
The morning of my session, I drove two and a half hours, parked and took a selfie before going in. I purposely went into the day with the thought that Jes and Emily do this for a living so they know best. I didn't bring any clothing items with me and only had one make up and one hair picture for inspiration. I wanted to be open to their ideas.

Emily greeted me at the door, showed me the closet and the outfits picked out for me. I tried on everything! Then, after Jes settled my two black body suits dilemma, Emily got going with my hair and make up. I felt like we chatted and laughed the whole time like good friends.

When it was actually time to get dressed in the outfit I picked and Jes styled with jewelry and heels, I was feeling beautiful, but still a bit nervous. Jes didn't waste any time getting into poses and snapping pictures. There wasn't time to be nervous! Jes has this personality trait that makes you want to do a good job for her. You want to make her proud. When shooting, both her and Emily have great little quips about how beautiful you are, or how great the photo looks. You can't help but believe them and start to act more confident and sexy.

We flew through my outfits and soon the day was over. I regretfully got dressed and then Jes showed me the products and I set a viewing date with Emily. I didn't want to leave! Too soon I was headed back to the cities to do regular mom stuff like pick children up from preschool!

How did you feel about yourself after your session?
After my session I truly felt like I was glowing. I felt this weird feeling of pride and kind of a giddy adrenaline rush from doing something so out of the box from my norm. I think I grinned at every car I passed on the way home! The date of my session was probably tied with my wedding for the date I felt most beautiful.

How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos?
I had my viewing session via skype, and set up office in the parking lot of my daughters dance studio which is in an industrial part of town. Here I was, looking at suuuuuuuuper sexy photos of myself while guys in hard hats, mechanics, and little girls in tutu's walked around. I almost couldn't believe the woman in those pictures was me! I was so proud and feeling so sexy - even in my car by myself. After seeing my photos, I truly couldn't wait to physically see them. I wanted to order all of them. I wanted to show everyone how great these photos were. I think I even said that to my mom - 'Want to see a picture of my butt?'!

What would you tell anyone interested, but maybe hesitant, in book a session of their own?
Do it, do it, do it. You won't regret it. I booked the session thinking the products would be a gift for my husband. Screw that - that day was the best thing I could have ever done for MYSELF, the best gift I could have ever given me! My husband just gets to benefit from it.

How was working with Jes and Emily?
Jes and Emily are the perfect mix of hype girls, perfectionists, best girl friends, and professionals. They make you feel so comfortable and good in your skin. They are so positive and empowering - just the type of friends every woman needs in her corner. Professionally, I couldn't have asked for more. My experience was wonderful. My photos are amazing and I cannot wait to see my final products.

Anything else you want to add?
Jes and Emily, I can't thank you enough. I feel like I need to bake you a cake, or do some of your laundry, or something! I treasure my photographs and the memories of my day with you both. You are doing amazing work for women. I can't wait to support you on any and all adventures you two take! Thank you!!
