How Old Were You At Your Session? 34
What made you decide to book a session? Spontaneity. It wasn't something I had been thinking about for a while, a good friend was doing one and I thought, ooo, I want to do that!
What was originally holding you back from booking a session? Once I looked into it, it was definitely the expense. Justifying it to my husband. I had been a stay at home mom for the last 6 years so it wasn't something he would be okay paying for. In the end, I thought even if I can't afford any products after, the experience will be well worth it. Of course once I booked my session I started saving because hell yes I wanted products after! Our 10 year anniversary would be the following year and it helped me feel good about it calling it a present to him plus my kids were both starting school full time so I was able to start working again.
What were you most nervous about for your session? Honestly, that the ladies of Mad Chicken wouldn't like me! I had joined the VIP group upon booking and dove in head first being pretty active in the group. I was already in awe over what kind of business model, self love, body positivity, all the things, they were representing for a solid nine months but I had never met them. It sounds silly but I just wanted them to like me too! I was able to go to my good friends session before my own so I got to break that ice and see their whole process. I think it really put me at ease and just built on the excitement for my turn.
How did you feel about yourself before your session? When I booked I had this moment, this oh shit moment. I was going to be photographed, next to naked, by strangers. I had neglected my health and well being for all my life. I wasn't super overweight, I still had times when I felt pretty, even sexy but I was not taking care of myself and I knew it. Booking my session was truly the kick in the butt I needed to start putting myself first. I started going back to yoga, ended up joining Fit4mom and really worked the program towards my fitness. I know Jes, Emily & Katie would have made me feel beautiful with my body and they really work hard at promoting acceptance of what you are no matter your body type. I admire them for it. Its not what they strive for directly, but the idea of working with them gave me the motivation to be my best me. Working out and taking care of my physical health gave me awesome results and my mental health followed in suit. So to answer this question, I was feeling fucking fantastic and I was so grateful to them before we even started.
Describe your experience. Oh my, how can I?!! The words don't do justice to how amazing it was. I felt like a bad ass babe. The closet was so fun, all the outfits are gorgeous but narrowing it down was easier than I thought. Emily is a goddess and works magic with hair and make up. I tried not to peek in the mirror but she is just so damn good I couldn't stop those quick glances! Then we started photographing. The first images I got to see on the back of Jes's camera were mind blowing. Damn she is good at what she does! She is not kidding when she says you will be sore though, you will be sore, you will shake! I wouldn't take back any of it for a second though. I felt so pampered, so beautiful and really truly was over the moon with joy from the whole experience. Literally, randomly cried for days from being filled with so much joy, or from being so sore....JK! It was all the love!
How did you feel about yourself after your session? Oh I think I just answered that. The thrill and delight of it all was bubbling over and I didn't want it to end. I had my viewing session to look forward to though!
Were you nervous before your viewing session? No. The anticipation gave me some butterflies but no. I was eager.
How did you feel about yourself after seeing your photos? WOW! Damn girl, you look fiiiine! Yeah, that definitely went through my head. I may have looked at Jes and said, "my boobs look huge!" too. Which to me is a-ok ;) Narrowing down photos for my album was going to be hard (and it was).
What were your favorite products? I love the wall prints, I knew that going in. The albums are so stylish and elegant I would have loved to get the platinum one. I went with a collection so I could get a wall print and used the rest of my photo credit to add more photos to my album. Like I said, narrowing it down was so hard!
What would you tell anyone interest, but maybe hesitant, in booking a session of their own? We've all answered this the same, DO IT!!! It is such a rewarding experience, no matter how many times you hear that it might not sink in but it is. The empowerment you will give yourself may be the greatest gift of all and I think you will like the photos too *wink wink*
How was working with Jes and Emily? So incredible. They are queens in their field. Truly exceptional. And dammit they are fun! I had a vision of things I wanted to try this time but I vow to give them complete control of the reigns next time. Yep, they know what they are doing.
Will you be doing another session? Yep, already booked! September birthday present here I come!!!
Anything else you want to add? Thank you Jes, Emily and Katie! You all had a part in making this a magical experience for me. My world has been altered for the good and I feel so grateful for it! I've said it before and I'll say it again, you are changing lives. Thank you so very much from this babes so very full heart. xoxo
